About the Presenter

Facilitator – Dr. Hal Levine, DO

Dr. Hal Levine has been with ValueOptions for over fourteen years. His responsibilities have included almost all aspects of the range of services provided by ValueOptions including Medical Director of the Tennessee Service Center for TennCare and Provident Insurance Company. He has also had full responsibilities for ValueOptions’ pharmacy division, Rx1, as well as national utilization management. For the last three years, Dr. Levine has been the Chief Medical Officer for ValueOptions, a BHO responsible for over 23 million lives including public sector, commercial and CHAMPUS. Dr. Levine provides oversight for a provider network of over 50,000 providers and 5,000 facilities providing mental health and substance abuse care to our members. Dr. Levine has pioneered data driven partnerships with provider networks in various parts of the United States and is committed to full integration of all members health needs be they physical, behavioral or substance abuse. Dr. Levine has a medical degree from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO. He received his residency and fellowship training in Child and Adult Psychiatry at the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas.

Prior to joining ValueOptions, Dr. Levine served as medical director of psychiatric hospitals for Charter Hospital Corporation and Psychiatric Institutes of America in Arizona and California respectively. Prior to those appointments, he also had been in academic medicine and public mental healthcare in Missouri and Pennsylvania respectively.

Under his leadership VO continues to be an industry leader as the countries second largest BHO and has served on numerous national committees dedicated towards improving the behavioral health needs throughout the country.

Dr. Levine has published psychiatric papers and has also published the book, “Prisoners of the Past,” which deals with post-traumatic stress disorder.
