About the Presenters

Facilitator –DOMINICK J. LACOVARA, JR., L.C.S.W.

Dominick Lacovara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has practiced in a variety of settings since 1975. Experiences have included: Psychiatric Social Worker at Atascadero State Hospital and the California Men’s Colony, Commissioned Officer in the U. S. Public Health Service, instructor at Lake Superior State University, Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, Psychotherapy Department supervisor and case manager with a large multi-specialty medical group practice in San Luis Obispo, CA from 1984 to 1999, and sport psychology consulting since 1995. He has been in private practice since 1999, providing individual, marital and family psychotherapy, sport psychology consulting and corporate consulting and training in such areas as corporate crisis intervention, critical incident stress management, workplace violence, substance abuse and sexual harassment, and motivation.

As a consultant for Crisis Management International, he provided crisis intervention services to numerous companies in New York City immediately following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

About the Program

Participants will understand that the skills that support world class athletes are available to us all. The presenter will:

  • Discuss Sports as a Metaphor
  • Examine Success –Barriers as well as achievements
  • Review the characteristics of successful people
  • Relate the mental skills of successful athletes to our own personal qualities like commitment and motivation

Participants will have a chance to ask questions.
