About the Presenters

Facilitator – August "Gus" Klinkenberg, MSW, LCSW

Gus Klinkenberg has worked for the Arlington Police Department for the last seven years.  A licensed Peace Officer in the state of Texas, he’s been assigned as a Detective in the Gang Unit for the last year and a half.  In his role with the Arlington Police Department, Gus also instructs at the police academy and teaches Crisis Intervention, Stress Management as well as a Mental Health Peace Officer course.  Gus is also a Mental Health Professional on the Critical Incident Stress Management team and on the SWAT team as a Hostage Negotiator.  He is also the Tarrant County coordinator for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.  Prior to beginning his career in law enforcement, Gus worked for eight years in the behavioral health field.  He was a child and family therapist for Tarrant County Mental Health and Mental Retardation, and also worked as a Clinical Care Manager for ValueOptions.  Gus has a Master’s degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

About the Program

This one-hour teleconference presentation will focus on these specific topics related to gang activity in the workplace:

• The definition of a gang
• The DSM IV Diagnostic Criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder
• Identification of gang flags/identifiers
• Identification of common gangs in the U.S.
• How to recognize gang activity in the workplace or where you do business
• How to intervene or prevent gang activity in the workplace

Participants will have a chance to ask questions.
