About the Presenters
Facilitator – Keith Whyte
Keith Whyte is the Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, the national advocate for programs and services to assist problem gamblers and their families. Keith has been involved in gaming and problem gambling issues for more than twelve years, and has over eighteen years of public policy experience at the national level. He has written extensively on gaming policy and serves on numerous editorial and advisory boards. Keith frequently comments on gambling-related issues in media worldwide.
About the Program
This hour long teleconference training will provide an overview of problem gambling and include topics such as prevalence, warning signs, and clinical issues for the treatment provider. The detailed outline is as follows:

Participants will learn:
- The history of gambling and its social, legal, economic and health implications for Americans
- Prevalence, incidence, definitions and criteria of pathological and problem gambling in adolescents, adults and special populations
- Warning signs of a gambling problem and brief screens to assess
- Important clincial issues and co-occurring disorders in problem gamblers, including high rates of depression, suicidal behavior, impulsivity, substance use and abuse
- Available free tools and resources for EAP and other professionals
