About the Program

In Gestalt therapy, dialogue becomes the basis of everything - awareness, contact and change. Any "technique" can fall within the purview of Gestalt therapy so long as it brings the boundary of the therapist into contact with the boundary of the client. For the EAP Counselor, any technique that brings counselor and client together in this manner will facilitate a more rapid understanding of the presenting problems from the client's perspective. This, in turn, results in the counselor appreciating the resources that are already available to the client in addition to those the counselor brings to the dialogue. We will discuss Gestalt approaches to grounding and structuring the interview, recognizing supports in the client's environment and maintaining the EAP relationship through the assessment process and follow-up.

Participants will have a chance to ask questions.
