About the Presenters
Facilitators – Liz Thorpe and Mary Hill, ValueOptions
Liz Thorpe
Liz Thorpe has served as the Director of Workplace Services at the ValueOptions-NCSC since joining the company in 2000. She holds a Master of Arts degree from University of New Mexico and has over 19 years of progressive experience providing EAP, mental health, and substance abuse services to a variety of workplace settings. Liz has been actively involved in national EAP organizations, including serving on the Employee Assistance Certification Commission from 1993 to 1996.
Mary Hill
Mary Hill has thirteen years of experience in the managed behavioral health/substance abuse and employee assistance fields. She has experience in assisting employers with job performance problems, employee substance abuse, fitness for duty and threat of violence issues, traumatic incident response and trainings. Ms. Hill has a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and a B.A. in Psychology and Personnel Administration from the University of Kansas. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Texas. She also is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional. Mary has been with ValueOptions since November, 1998.
In her role at ValueOptions, Mary is primarily responsible for supporting the company and the Texas Service Center in the delivery of EAP and ancillary services, with a focus on assisting employers in addressing issues that impact employee health and performance on the job.
About the Program
This training is designed to give participants an overview of the DOT drug and alcohol testing rules, the difference between SAP services and EAP, and what role the EAP may play in SAP cases. Note that the training is not designed to be a SAP-qualifying training, but rather to familiarize them with the process and how it differs from EAP.
