About the Presenters

Facilitator – Dr. David Litts

David Litts, OD, FAAO is associate director of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), a national center funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). As part of the center's executive management team, he contributes to the strategic planning of the new center and manages a staff that provides technical assistance in evidence-based suicide prevention planning and implementation.  Dr. Litts also serves at chairman of the board of the LifeHouse Foundation, a newly organized 501(c)3 dedicated to raising funds for evidence-based suicide prevention programs. Dr. Litts also served as chief of staff for the Air Force Surgeon General and executive director of the Air Force Suicide Prevention Program. In this post, he oversaw the development and implementation of a comprehensive population-based suicide prevention program covering 600,000 Air Force personnel. The program was associated with a statistically significant 55 percent drop in the suicide rate among Air Force members over four years. This program is now the largest and longest sustained suicide prevention effort associated with significant reductions in suicide.
